The characters for the name Hakka means guest families and unlike the other Han groups present, the Hakka Hans are not named after counties, provinces, a city, or any other geographical region.

There is no record or history of the arrival of the Hakka descendants in Thailand, but they are believed to have originated from the islands that border the Yellow River namely Henan, Hubei, and Shanxi.
